DESCRIPTION:It is with great sadness that the Somerton Music & Arts Festival Committee have made the very difficult decision to postpone by one year the 2020 Festival.  This is a decision which we have not taken lightly; however\, the health and safety of our audience\, artists\, traders\, crew and community is always our first priority. \nAfter 31 years of running\, Somerton Music & Arts Festival Community Interest Company has\nadded a one day spectacular ‘Somerstock’ to its traditional 10-day Festival of high quality\nfamily entertainment held in venues around the town.\nSomerstock to be held on the sports field in Somerton will provide something for all the\nfamily throughout the day on Saturday July 11th\, running from 11am through to midnight. The\nevent will be raising money for St Margaret’s Hospice and will feature over 15 bands\, 3 bars\,\ngood quality food\, retail stalls and children’s entertainment. \nThis year’s headliners are Triple Platinum band\, The Christians. With a string of\nmelodic\, soulful hits in the 80s and 90s including Forgotten Town\, Ideal World\, Harvest for the\nWorld\, Hooverville and many more\, The Christians are also renowned for their live\nperformance. Chris Evans rated them as playing ‘the best gig I’ve ever been to’. Still headed by\nenigmatic lead singer Garry Christian with ‘one of the finest voices in pop’ (Daily Mirror)\, the\nband are currently enjoying a major revival and touring the UK and Europe.\nThe festival will also feature local bands Cover All Bases\, Al O’Kane and SnakeSnakeSnake and\nwill see the return of some of last year’s most popular bands – Black Friday\, Area 52 and\nTalisman.
